What is Pilates?

Pilates is a method of exercise designed to tone and strengthen the body, targeting the  deep stabilising muscles.   The focus on good alignment and breathing  patterns teaches you how to have greater control and awareness of your body and the way it moves.   Pilates is recommended as an effective compliment to sports training, and is popular with clients with neck, back and joint issues.

What are the potential benefits?

  • ·  Better posture

  • ·  Improved flexibility

  • ·  Greater strength and  muscle tone

  • ·  Increased bone density

  • ·  Greater joint mobility

  • ·  Lowered stress levels

  •   Reduce risk of sports-related injury

  •   General sense of well-being

I teach a contemporary style of Pilates, the exercises are Pilates based, offering all the benefits of this method of exercise, whilst allowing for variations and modifications to suit the general health and well-being of students.  These modifications allow me to teach creative, fun classes, including the use of small equipment (such as balls, bands and circles) whilst always being mindful of injury rehabilitation and long-term health conditions of students and the particular needs of a class.
